*Gorilla Lips — a title inspired by reported conversation between Koko, the signing gorilla, and her companion gorilla, Michael. Together they came up with the sign “lip” to indicate a woman who frequently came to their compound who wore bright red lipstick. This evolved into “lip” as their sign for woman.

Therefore: Gorilla Lips is my title for playing around with three gorilla women characters, Queen Kong, Hatmama, and GorillaLips. These characters have provided provocation for art making—they refer to all of art as “making a movie” — starring them of course.
